Production area:
Banditella Vineyard, located on the hill overlooking the Orcia river facing South. Height above level of 250-300 meters.
   
Weather conditions:
The budding took place the end of the first week of April with an excellent fertility of the buds  and a great number of potential bunches. April was mild with few rains like the whole first part of the spring. The temperatures from May to July were mainly above the seasonal average and caused some flowering of flowers and a lower development of the bunches, making them smaller and sparse. The rains arrived between late July and middle August, for a  total of 130 mm, favored a drop in daytime temperatures and a considerable nigh-time thermal excursions. Consequently, the following weeks enabled the plants to rebalance the parameters of the grapes. The harvest was slightly anticipated at the beginning of September.
Vineyard and grapes:
The Banditella vineyard, planted in 1998, with clones of Sangiovese selected, through a 10 years project, conducted in cooperation with the University of Florence. The Banditella vineyard  is one of the best expressions of Brunello di Montalcino. Manual harvest with rigorous selection of the bunches.
Vinification:
Medium-long maceration in short and wide tanks at a temperature of 25° in order to preserve a fresh and long-living fruit. Two daily pumping over combined with 2 délestages on the 3rd and the 5th day of fermentation give, an efficient, but delicate extraction of colour and tannins from the grape skins.
Ageing:
After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred into barriques and casks (oak from Allier) where it refines for about one year.

MAIN FEATURES

Colour:  
Deep ruby red.
 
Bouquet:  
Ample and complex bouquet, hints of red ripe fruits, like cherry and raspberry. It also offers spicy nuances and a sweet toasting note such as vanilla.
 
Taste:   
Full and enveloping, with a very fine and persistent tannin. Long and elegant on the final, it shows an after-aroma of toasting.
 
Alcohol content:   14,5 %
 
Total acidity level:  5,60 g/l
